Willie Nelson is an American country music singer songwriter, activist, poet, and performer with an estimated net worth of $25 million. A couple of Willie Nelson songs are “Crazy,” “Always on My Mind,” and “On the Road Again.” His dad was a machinist and his mother left the family when Nelson was still a young kid. After his dad remarried and additionally left, Nelson and his sister were raised by their grandparents who introduced them to the universe of music. His grandpa gave him his first guitar when he was just six years of age and he and his sister sang in church.

By his early teens he was bringing in cash performing in local groups and dance halls. His early teens played sports in high school and worked in various odd jobs, while constantly performing. The Air worked as disc jockey in a radio station and continued composing and performing his music. In 1960, the Air moved to Nashville and got work as a songwriter. The Air started composing successful songs for other musicians but didn’t garner much interest initially as a performer until he moved back to Texas and became part of the burgeoning Austin music scene. Beginning in 1973, Nelson’s unique sound began resonating with listeners with his Shotgun Willie record, which can be still considered among the best records ever. Phases and Stages followed a year later and created Nelson as a power in the business. His break would come in 1975 with Red Headed Stranger which was his first significant commercial success.

He continued to record songs and records for another two decades. Nelson has had monetary, personal and legal problems but has been socially and politically active throughout. He’s been married four times and has seven kids.
